Room 516, Thursday Evening

Kaylee was starting to get settled into her new room. The extra space meant more room for all of her random engine parts. Unless, of course, she acquired more.

Currently, she was putting Christmas lights up. She really didn't care that the holiday was over. They were pretty.

Eyebrows raised toward her hairline, watching Kaylee with surprise before looking back to the parts with a new sort of respect. "A mechanic? For what? I don't think I've ever seen anything like those..." Of course, coming from a tiny town in an alternate universe in the early 1900s would make spaceship parts look a little odd.

"The ship I lived on," Kaylee said. "I'm, er, from the future."

Crimson eyes widened, and Armony was suddenly very, very interested in knowing more about Kaylee. "Really?" she asked with a quite childish zeal.

"Yeah, 'bout 500 years or so," Kaylee said. "I live on a space ship. These parts I got from a junkyard on a planet far away from here."

"Wooooow," Armony exclaimed. "I think it's more than 500 for me; where I lived the year was 1914." She scratched the back of her head sheepishly. "I'm a little confused, 'cause everyone here says it just turned 2007. I'm trying to figure out where all the time went."

"Yeah, this town does crazy things with time. Don't really understand it much myself."

A shrug of small shoulders, and Armony continued to grin. "Certainly seems like it."
