Room 516, Monday

Kaylee was sitting on her bed, glancing around at her near empty room. The Christmas lights that were still up were the only sign that someone had lived here.

It was a little hard to believe she would be leaving in a few hours.

Cally had gotten a phone call and could hardly believe it. She knocked quietly on the door with her free hand, since she had a wrapped package in her other.

Kaylee went over to open the door, greeting Cally with a smile. "Hey Cally."

Cally caught Kaylee with a hug. "Dork. Skipping town and if you'd done it any sooner I wouldn't have gotten to say g'bye."

Kaylee wasn't expecing a hug, but she wasn't complaining at all. Hugs were nice. "Glad the weather was crazy then. I wouldn't have wanted to leave without sayin' goodbye to you."

"Good," Cally said. She pulled back and held out the package which contained a single solid spanner. "This is for you."

Kaylee opened the package and grinned. "Awww, Cally, you didn't have to do that. That's real nice of ya. Thank you."

"It's sort of an white elephant," Cally said. "I had two, and, well, I figure you might need one for your ship, maybe."

"Oh, I'm sure this could be of good use for Serenity," Kaylee said. "Thanks again."

"You're welcome," Cally said. "Now... take care of yourself about half as well as you'll take care of Serenity, at least, okay?"

"If I take care of myself as much as Serenity, I'll be real healthy," Kaylee said with a laugh.

"That's the idea," Cally said. "It was really nice knowing you, Kaylee."

"Nice knowin' you, too," Kaylee said. "And you take care of yourself, too."

"Definitely," Cally said. She gave a sad little wave. "I better let other people get their chances to say g'bye."
